In December 2019, Bendigo Telco will be withdrawing support for our Sophos Firewall product. We will migrate all affected customers to our standard firewall offering, Managed Firewall.
Managed Firewall is a powerful, fully-featured network security solution powered by Fortinet. Bendigo Telco’s Managed Firewall product suite offers a range of firewall products utilising the latest in Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) technology, combined with Bendigo Telco’s specialist knowledge of internet and data security.
We will be migrating customers to their new Managed Firewall throughout October and November. Each customer will receive a notification shortly that will guide them through the process, and ensure there is minimal business disruption.
FAQs
Why are we withdrawing the Sophos Firewall product?
We are ending support for Sophos Firewall as we enhance our product offering and capabilities using Fortinet technology. By migrating customers to Fortinet-based solutions, we are better able to support their services.
What are the differences between Sophos Firewall and Managed Firewall?
There is little difference in terms of features between the Sophos Firewall and Managed Firewall products. Our Managed Firewall product can easily support the same configurations as Sophos Firewalls and offers more value with a much richer feature set. To review the list of features available with Managed Firewall, visit our website.
Which Managed Firewall tier will my service migrate to?
Managed Firewall offers three different tiers - Basic, Standard and Enhanced. Customers will migrate to a Managed Firewall tier that offers the same features configured in their Sophos Firewall.
Will my monthly fee change?
No, your monthly fee will remain exactly the same. Your bill, however, will change to say you are being charged for Managed Firewall instead of Sophos Firewall.
What happens to my existing contract?
If your Sophos Firewall service is currently in-contract, you will no longer be bound by the contract terms when the migration is complete.
Will there be any downtime?
We will work with each customer individually to perform a network cutover at a time that suits their business needs. There should only be a brief downtime window – to perform a network cutover, and apply necessary checks and tests may take up to 20 minutes. When the cutover begins, our engineering team will be on standby to ensure there is a seamless transition.
Will I be able to manage my firewall using a customer portal?
Yes, if you need to self-manage your firewall, we will provide edit-access to our Bendigo Telco Managed Firewall portal. If you would prefer our team to manage your firewall needs completely, you will receive a read-only login to the portal.
